Threshold Lab Privacy Policy.

This policy explains what stays on your computer, what leaves it only when you choose a network feature, and which outside service receives that information.

The short version: Threshold Lab has no Walter Claw account, advertising, behavioral analytics, or tracking. Walter Claw Software LLC does not receive your local profiles, prompts, plans, Experience Records, narration, or WAV exports. Optional AI planning, the initial voice-model download, and a report the user explicitly chooses to send are the app's visible network boundaries.

Information stored on your computer

Threshold Lab creates and uses local application data so that sessions can be built, restored, understood, and exported. Depending on the features you use, this can include:

session recipes, timelines, titles, mix settings, and appearance preferences;
current, pinned, and historical session metadata;
AI Lab prompts and portable plan JSON;
plain-language session descriptions and exported lossless WAV files;
locally rendered narration and cached voice data; and
optional Experience Records written by the user.

These files are not uploaded to Walter Claw Software. Exported prompts, plans, descriptions, WAVs, and Experience Records remain ordinary files under the user's control.

Optional AI provider requests

Session Creator can be used without an AI provider. When a user asks AI Lab to generate a plan, Threshold Lab first asks for permission. Continuing sends the planning prompt and current session-design settings to the provider selected by the user. It does not include WAV audio, Experience Records, or unrelated local files.

That request is processed under the selected provider's account, terms, privacy policy, data controls, and billing arrangement. Threshold Lab does not control what an outside provider retains after receiving a request. Review the policies for OpenAI or xAI before using the selected service, and avoid including information you do not want that provider to receive.

The returned structured plan is validated by Threshold Lab. Narration, procedural sound layers, playback, and WAV export are then produced locally on the user's computer.

Provider credentials

Mac and Windows support a ChatGPT OAuth connection owned and isolated by Threshold Lab. An OpenAI or xAI API key supplied by the user is available as an alternative while OAuth is disconnected. Threshold Lab does not read credentials from or depend on another app, and it does not include an AI subscription or a Walter Claw-hosted AI account.

Provider credentials saved through Threshold Lab are encrypted by the operating system and kept in local application support data. They are not placed in exported prompts, plans, descriptions, WAVs, session snapshots, or Experience Records, and they are not sent to Walter Claw Software.

Provider API requests can incur charges under the user's provider account. Threshold Lab confirms the first request to each configured provider before sending it.

Local voice and model files

Threshold Lab renders generated narration locally. Before the first voice use, the app asks permission to download about 90 MB from Hugging Face if the required open voice model is not already cached. That hosting request can reveal ordinary connection information, such as an IP address, to Hugging Face.

The model is stored in Threshold Lab's local app data and can be reused offline. Narration text is not sent to Hugging Face or a cloud text-to-speech service. Voice synthesis and finished WAV rendering happen on the user's computer.

AI content reports

The Windows edition's Help > Report AI-Generated Content command opens a review dialog for optional notes and the current prompt and plan. The user can omit that content before opening an editable draft in the default email app.

Threshold Lab does not upload or send the report. Walter Claw Software receives only what the user leaves in the draft and explicitly chooses to send from the email app.

Experience Records

Experience Records are optional local notes. Threshold Lab does not use them to unlock sessions, score an outcome, gate app use, or define progress. They are not sent to Walter Claw Software.

Because they are readable local files, anyone with access to the user's computer and files may be able to read them. Users should write only what they are comfortable keeping on that device.

This website

ThresholdLab.app is a static website hosted by Netlify. It does not currently include advertising, analytics scripts, account creation, newsletter forms, or tracking cookies. As a hosting provider, Netlify may process routine request and security logs needed to deliver and protect the site.

Following an external link—such as Walter Claw Software or a future store listing—moves the visitor to a service governed by that service's own practices.

User controls and deletion

Users can delete exported session artifacts and Experience Records as ordinary local files. Individual local profiles can be removed in User, and provider credentials can be removed in Settings. Settings can also make Threshold Lab show its network disclosures again.

Removing Threshold Lab's local application data through macOS deletes the app-managed profiles, history, settings, cached narration, and downloaded model. Uninstalling the app does not necessarily delete documents intentionally exported elsewhere, so those files must be removed separately.

Policy changes

Walter Claw Software may update this policy when Threshold Lab's features, providers, distribution, or legal requirements change. A revised policy will show a new effective date on this page.
